Job Overview

We seek a Senior Manager, Envrionmental Remediation.

Management of environmental remediation projects and developing long-range remedial solutions to environmental investigations and property assessments to reduce environmental risks and protect company assets. Senior Manager is responsible for the successful investigation, remedial project design, and implementation pursuant to regulatory agency and/or company direction on matters with significant legal and financial implications to the Company.

This person will be responsible for the project management and oversight of:

    Responses and solutions related to CERCLA, RCRA corrective action, and hazardous waste treatment unit investigations, closures, and reporting with regulatory agencies and third parties to minimize regulatory impact and compliance issues
  • Remediation solutions that minimize regulatory impact and compliance damages related to real estate development
  • A broad portfolio of corporate legacy sites in various stages of investigation and remediation as well as sites with multiple parties, cost allocations, and responsible party coordination committees
  • Negotiations with regulatory agencies and management of compliance with applicable orders, agency directives, and permits.
  • Financial assurance obligations for portfolio of sites

Position will require up to 10% travel and management of environmental projects at multiple locations.

This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

Essential Functions

50% - Manage projects to achieve cost and schedule commitments to Annual Plan using multi-disciplinary team of internal/external professionals and contractors integrating responses with internal stakeholders including finance, legal, operations and risk management.

20% - Prepare and maintain accurate financial documentation, including budget projections, environmental liability reserve amounts consistent with accounting guidance, including Sarbanes Oxley, and development of project cost/benefit analyses to support business decisions.

10% - Work with other organization staff and management team to develop strategic direction for remediation and implementation of environmental related projects and/or litigation support.

10% - Integrate and monitor internal and external SH&E programs and requirements into the remediation programs including job hazard analyses.

10% - Present technical information to public and regulatory agencies in writing and in public forums.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, hydrogeology, geology or another appropriate discipline and fourteen (14) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, including the ability to budget, plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control the activities of the assigned organization for multiples projects at one time. Knowledge of environmental liability recognition and reporting requirements for publically traded companies.

Current 40 HAZWOPER preferred.

Professional Engineer or Certified Professional Geologist designation desirable.

Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in this position must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Requires the ability to travel by air and auto, including travel by auto. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Additional Requirements: May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, respiratory protection, and shop coat. May require the ability to respond to emergency events in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER). Requires ability to participate and/or manage emergency response, in accordance with AR site Emergency Response Plan(s). Ability to work in field on uneven terrain in extreme environments as much as 25% of job. Extreme environments, including heat (>100 degrees F), cold (<32 degrees F), rain, etc.

Pay range for this position:
144,500 - 212,166 per year
