We are seeking a Safety Engineer to join the team at our growing facility in Camden, AR.

Our growing Camden, AR site has the newest, state-of-the-art large solid rocket motor facility in the nation to produce rocket motors that support our nation's most important next generation national security programs, like the Sentinel (Ground Based Strategic Deterrent), hypersonics and missile defense targets. Camden is also where we produce solid rocket motors and warheads critical to the nation's defense, like THAAD, Standard Missile, Tactical Tomahawk, Javelin and the Patriot Missile System. Work performed under limited supervision.
25% - Performs a variety of safety engineering and industrial hygiene tasks for compliance with applicable local, state and federal safety regulations including safety requirements of the Department of Defense (DOD) and also company and site-specific standards.
25% - Assists senior SH&E (Safety, Health and Environment) staff with execution of projects as directed.
20% - Evaluates management of change (MOC) for new chemicals; new or modified facilities; equipment, or processes.
15% - Assists in incident, near-miss, and safety suggestion investigations and recommends corrective actions.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, or a related discipline and five (10) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates are expected to operate effectively in a team environment. Candidates must be willing and available to work other shifts or overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of mobility including: walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Office environments may include use of standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Some aspects of the work may require vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary.
Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, shop coat, FR clothing, and respiratory protection. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, explosives, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations.
Medical clearance maybe required for some aspects of the role. Note respirator use requires that the employee be able to make an appropriate seal.
