Investment Style:

We are looking for a Portfolio Manager to join our team. We believe in active portfolio management that accommodates insightful observations of the business cycle and capital markets, and that reflects the best ideas generated by discipline individual security selection and manager due diligence processes. We believe that investing success is challenging, and that it requires the application of professional skill in an engaging environment that promotes collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and rigorous debate. What You'll Do:

Be a contributing member of our Investment Policy Committee (IPC) and sub-committees

  • Maintain in-depth, daily knowledge and understanding of the global economic events, trends, and market conditions, including the securities markets and individual securities
  • Conduct fundamental research of select sectors and individual securities within the coverage area, present research to the IPC, and make recommendations at the sector and individual security level
  • Engage in the formation and adjustment of our tactical strategies and decisions, bringing thoughtful perspective, insight and opinion to the discussions
  • Provide constructive criticism of peer presentations and make recommendations that help improve the investment process, decisions, and long-term results
  • Contribute to the long-term evolution of our investment process, identifying opportunities that may add value to client portfolios, maintain our competitive advantage, and provide fresh perspective on the ever-changing market environment, investment vehicles, and tactical strategies

Manage the investment activities of an existing group of client portfolios

  • Serve high-net worth individuals, families, non-profit organizations and institutions as the investment-focused member of our client service team
  • Engage the client in conversations around their goals, objectives and risk tolerance to identify and articulate an Investment Policy Statement (IPS)
  • Apply our investment philosophy and process to the client's portfolio, support the management and trading of the portfolio in a manner that is consistent with the strategic and tactical decisions set forth by the Investment Policy Committee, and that are also appropriate to our client-specific IPS
  • Participate in client reviews and review the client's to ensure current portfolio allocations are aligned, maintain an up-to-date IPS as client's circumstances evolve
  • Prepare client presentations that communicate our investment strategy, its application in the context of our client-specific IPS, and present portfolio performance results
  • Complete and maintain compliance account reviews for client portfolios
  • Provide commentary and respond to client concerns regarding economic conditions,
  • Meet or exceed our standards in supporting an exceptional client experience, serve as an integral member of the client team

Support the marketing efforts of the Firm in attracting new client assets

  • Present our Investment philosophy, style and process to prospective clients
  • Work with the client team to analyze the investment portfolios of prospective clients, prepare presentations thereto, communicate our client value proposition, and answer/address any investment related questions
  • Participate in "Center of Influence" activities with the client team, specifically working with Wealth Advisors to network and cultivate working relationships with other professionals within the communities in which we operate
  • Attend Firm-sponsored and other related events that promote our mission and brand, interact with targeted audience members on behalf of the Firm
  • Be an ambassador of the Firm within the community, participate in community service activities that are of personal interest and reflect positively on our organization

Participate in the enrichment of our culture and working environment

  • Develop relationships across all departments of the firm
  • Bring organizational structure and best practices to the management team
  • Positively influence the professional environment of the Firm, the growth profile of the organization, continuing-education expectations, and the career aspirations of its members
  • Proactively bring ideas and opinions to the senior management team, with any issues affecting the high-quality client experience we aim to provide

Play an active role in different firm committees - prepare and contribute thoughts for agendas, raise concerns, suggest solutions, look for and implement efficiency and process improvement

What You'll Bring:

  • Demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, finance, economics and global capital markets
  • Strategic thinker, logical problem solver and decision maker, implementing both qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Resourceful in analyzing and solving problems
  • Work both in a team-oriented environment and independently
  • Demonstrated oral and written skills to effectively communicate with clients, their advisors, and fellow colleagues - both in-person and through different media
  • Adeptly handle confidential information and sensitive situations, you will continually require demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
  • Well developed presentation skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills across the Microsoft Office suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Tamarac (portfolio accounting software), Factset, Bloomberg, Schwab Institutional website, and Fidelity Institutional website a plus
  • Recognize the priority of compliance within the securities industry and the importance of our compliance related policies and practices
  • Occasional travel for client/prospect/investment research activities, as well as between offices - currently located in Maine and New Hampshire

Education And Experience:

  • B.A./B.S. from an accredited university required, preferably in finance, economics; CFA and/or MBA highly preferred
  • 5-10 years of investment research experience, and knowledge of investment research activities
  • Experience working with HNW families or institutional clients with interpersonal skills and professionalism to engage them in investment conversations
  • Series 65 is a requirement of the position and is financially supported by our organization
