Do you enjoy Gymnastics and have experience working with children? Are you looking a fun summer job that looks great on a resume? If you are looking for a seasonal role that will help you build skills for your future career this may be the opportunity for you!

The Plaistow YMCA is now hiring camp counselors specifically for our summer gymnastics programs in our brand new Gymnastics Center. Camp counselors will be responsible for teaching campers basic gymnastic skills while creating a safe and fun summer experience.

As a member of the Y camp staff, you will help campers engage, learn, and play and get the very most out of their summer experience! On a regular camp day, you will assist in the supervision of campers and lead summer games and activities. You have experience working with you in an instructional setting or previous personal experience related to gymnastics, dance, or cheer that inspires your interests in the sport. To succeed as a camp counselor you should be positive, proactive, and caring while focusing on giving campers a fun and safe camp experience. Qualifications
  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Previous experience as a gymnast, cheerleader, or dancer is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children is a plus.
  • Camp runs from 7am to 6pm Monday -Friday. Shifts vary between those hours.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Must be able to see and hear an emergency
  • Ability to lift equipment and maneuver equipment and weight up to 55 lbs or that of a small to average size child
  • Must be able to navigate the uneven surfaces on the gym floor
