Cold River Materials specializes in producing and transporting quality aggregates for Northeast Paving. These materials are used in asphalt production, roadway paving, and heavy civil construction. Every year these materials allow Northeast Paving to build hundreds of public and privately funded projects safely, successfully, and with an innovative approach to give their clients the greatest possible value for their investment. Cold River Materials is a subsidiary of Vinci Construction USA. General Description

Cold River Materials is looking for a Quarry Laborer at the Walpole, NH location. Previous experience working in a quarry setting or in road construction, is preferred, though training will be provided for the right candidate. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow in the construction industry. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. Key Duties

Quarry Equipment Operators and Laborers will be expected to carry out a wide range of tasks which may include:

  • Assist in operating the plant and loading trucks
  • General labor work, which may involve the use of small hand tools, shovels, rakes, and small power tools.
  • Running equipment such as water trucks, loaders, skid steer, quarry haul trucks, etc. (employer willing to train certifications/CDL not required.)
  • Basic yard/facility maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Occasional work at other nearby facilities as necessary.
  • Work with Quality Control to ensure a quality aggregate is produced
  • Assist Quarry Foreman with stockpile management
  • Assist with quarry maintenance
  • Help maintain cleanliness of the quarry site
  • Must be able to read, comprehend manuals and directives
  • Able to work at various heights
  • Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts

Qualification Requirements

  • Education and Experience - This position is an entry-level job, however previous experience in quarry and construction work is preferred.
    • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
    • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job
      site supervisors and fellow employees.
    • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record (preferred)
  • Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Quarry Laborer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
    • Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
    • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
    • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the quarry site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
    • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
    • Occasionally work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of power tools or hand tools involved in cleaning.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Quarry Laborer encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work environment exposes the employees to high levels of noise,
    grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites
    such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed
