Overview

Under moderate supervision, builds, analyzes, and interprets data and reporting that drive and support profit and growth strategies for AmTrust's Small Commercial multi-line portfolio. The position will provide detailed analysis of production and profit data, underwriting rules workflow and efficacy, industry performance metrics, and UW analytics to monitor and understand core drivers of business. Collaborate closely within Product Management and with key partners in the formulation and implementation of key business and automation strategies. Key skills will include the ability to extract, analyze, and visualize data creatively as well as provide evaluation of and create solutions for automating business processes. A highly qualified candidate will have experience in small commercial underwriting and/or with rules engines. This position does not manage others but may act as a mentor.

Responsibilities
    Performs ongoing product management and development including deep dive analyses to assist in the formulation of data and market driven recommendations for product, rule, rate, or underwriting changes.
  • Handles specialized responsibilities that may involve ownership of one or more specific industries or coverage segments within the product.
  • Formulate recommendations based on analysis and interpretation of business results, allowing for quick and effective reaction to growth and profit challenges.
  • Partners with Sales, Underwriting and Actuarial to understand business needs and feedback. Helps develop strategies based on data and market insights from business partners.
  • Presents findings of analysis and partners with leaders to assist in strategic overviews to management on a routine basis.
  • Provides guidance to the development of workflow practices across Product Management that reduce redundancy and establish consistency.
  • Builds, curates, and analyzes key performance indicators for emerging automation workflows, including but not limited to report-building in Power BI or similar applications.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a discipline requiring critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related analytical role is required.
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills, including the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes, and solutions
  • Solution-oriented individual with ability to think strategically and implement change
  • Experience pursuing long-term goals while balancing the short-term needs of the organization
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Moderate (or better) knowledge of SQL and PowerBI or similar data visualization and reporting tools
  • Experience with data extraction and visualization and/or reporting
  • Ability to self-direct; managing time and goals effectively with minimal supervision in both "build" and "run" stage business environments simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Experience programming in or analyzing data from business rules engines is a significant plus
  • Experience in Personal Lines or Commercial Lines Product (Management or Development), Pricing and/or Underwriting in a comparable role is strongly preferred
