Description

The Inspector I performs inspection of material and product according to documented procedures along with a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform the following types of inspections using manual inspection equipment or existing CMM: receipt inspections of stock for customer material and outside services, first piece inspections including shroud probes for approval of turning and milling programs, final inspections per customer drawings.
  • Perform basic measurements using an Optical Comparator.
  • Enter NCR's in to Intelex.
  • Identify, tag, and segregate all non-conforming parts for Quality Manager/Engineer and Engineering to disposition.
  • Visually inspect incoming material and machined material for defects and proper marking. Compare this to the customer master.
  • Ensure that all process steps are complete during final sample inspections.
  • Perform CMM qualification, set-ups, program selection measurements and troubleshooting efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the machining field.
  • Familiar with all product features, drawing requirements and alternate means of measurement as appropriate required.
  • Level 1 Certification required within 6 months of taking this position.
  • Mechanical and CMM inspection experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge dimensioning and tolerancing guidelines and blueprints desired.
  • Basic understanding of SPC.
  • Basic understanding of MS Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel, Internet and ERP software helpful (Epicor preferred).
  • Must understand the importance of quality, and the effects it imposes on our customers.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Requires occasional lifting and carrying of 15 lbs. or more and standing for extended periods of time.
