The Calibration and Instrumentation Technician III is responsible for the calibration of all critical instrumentation and to ensure it is performed according to the schedule and approved SOPs at multiple PCI facilities. Calibration and Instrumentation Technicians at this level, perform both routine and complex calibration work activities and maintenance of process and laboratory equipment as well as instrumentation. Level III Calibration Technicians must possess in-depth, detailed knowledge of the metrology, mathematics, and applicable technical disciplines in order to perform calibration, troubleshooting, repair, diagnosis, and validation of process instrumentation and controls.

JOB DUTIES

  • Work, at all times, in a safe manner in full adherence to PCI EHS guidelines and policies.
  • Calibrate utilities, process and laboratory equipment instrumentation such as: temperature, pressure, Conductivity, Temperature, Humidity, flow and pH sensors, transmitters and incubators; incubators; freezers; balances; indicators; Pressure Gauges /Gas & Liquid Flow instrumentation, Thermocouples, RTD's, fume hoods, and another lab equipment etc.
  • Maintain Calibration Database(s) and perform field calibrations, testing, troubleshooting and repairs across all facilities. Ensure compliance to all calibration activities.
  • Complete all work in accordance with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, and Company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Coordinate with Metrology Contractors and Vendors to ensure calibration of all critical instrumentation is performed according to the schedule and approved SOPs.
  • Assist with training and development of less experienced calibration personnel and instrumentation technicians.
  • Maintain an up-to-date working spare parts inventory for all utilities, process instruments /equipment, systems.
  • Review calibration certificates, maintain calibration standards, tag all new equipment/instrumentation and assign inventory numbers, recommends improvements on procedures and implements changes.
  • Ensure calibration to be performed in accordance with NIST traceable standards.

EDUCATION

  • High School/Associate or bachelor's degree in a Technical Field with a minimum of 5 years plus years or Military training preferred or 5 -7 years of equivalent training. Specific calibration and metrology training as provided in a technical school/junior college or military curriculum.

EXPERIENCE

  • Strong background in reliability centered maintenance and lean manufacturing.
  • Previous experience with a wide variety of instrumentation and equipment in a manufacturing, medical or laboratory environment desired.
  • Knowledge of Utilities and facility equipment such as HVAC air handlers, refrigeration, cold rooms, Freeze dryers, steam, chillers, cooling tower, pumps & drives, electrical switchgear, WFI, RODI, Fill finish equipment.
  • Experience working with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or Regulatory Asset management systems preferred.

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to recognize and diagnose problems and issues, and to develop alternative solutions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • The ability to work at all PCI NH site locations/Facilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Microsoft Office and Computer skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated capability to complete any required (GxP) documentation in a timely manner, including logbooks, GMP work orders safety logs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Able to organize and prioritize work duties for successful completion
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work on feet all day
  • Able to don cleanroom gowning and PPE, as required by site procedures.
