Summary of Position
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Housing, this position is responsible for overall building management of 400,000 square feet of residential buildings. Identifies building deficiencies and administers work to Facilities staff, University approved contractors and Housing teams with the intent of corrective and preventative maintenance. Oversees the Department of Housing's paint, flooring, and signage programs. Manages all related expenditures. Responsible for the area management of a summer program which employs and supervises approximately 20 full-time students and adjunct employees.

Other minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of Facilities Management related experience including one year of full-time supervisory required. Position requires strong oral and written communication skills, computer skills and a valid driver's license.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in housing facilities at an institution of higher education. Knowledge of building trades, grounds, and housekeeping fields as well as basic building life safety and fire codes. Knowledge of construction materials means and methods. Financial analysis skills related to facilities management, purchasing and procurement experience a plus.

Duties / Responsibilities
Job Duties

Duty/Responsibility
  • Oversee and monitor the execution of trade work, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, housekeeping, grounds, and project oversight, as identified by service level agreements, UNH Housing standards or USNH contracts to ensure quality results are achieved for assigned facilities.
  • Manage expenditures for assigned facilities projects in relationship to current year budget.
  • Meet regularly with Facilities staff to review the progress and quality of work in assigned facilities.
  • Responsible for overall conditions of assigned residential facilities. Conduct routine inspections and record conditions of building structure, mechanical systems, interior surfaces, and furnishings. Develop and present recommendations for future facility related projects and preventative maintenance.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Responsible for managing interior signage programs.
  • Act as owner representative for capital improvement projects.
  • Manages replacement program and coordinates with contractors the new installs.
  • Identify signage replacement and renewal needs and coordinate work with contractors.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Manage all aspects of Housing's paint and flooring programs.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of paint and flooring projects for the Department of Housing and track inventories of each system life cycles and recommend prioritized replacement and or updating.
  • Ensure the department is compliant with all safety standards. Establish and document standards and specifications for bid process. Identify contractors and vendors to complete necessary work. Coordinate work with building occupants and stakeholders.
  • Manage the projects to ensure standards are met, time lines are achieved, and work is within budget.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive housing facilities deferred maintenance database.
  • Manage a process for gathering new project submissions from building occupants and stakeholders.
  • Prioritize projects to help inform capital and small project planning
Duty/Responsibility
  • Manage Housing Facilities and Operations student and adjunct work crews, of 12-20 students, to perform simple repairs, paint, move furniture, building assessment and inspection.
  • Hire, train, and supervise crew.
  • Coordinate academic year work to ensure compliance with entry into student occupied spaces.
  • Develop and manage a summer program to prepare assigned buildings for fall occupancy.
  • Monitor progress and quality of work and record work completed for accuracy and to inform future planning.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Respond and represent the Department of Housing during facilities emergencies.
  • Manage HF&O restoration efforts including communication with staff, students and parents following emergencies when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned including participation on department committees and initiatives.
