Summary of Position
This position serves as the Manager of Learning Space Technologies/ Plymouth State Campus. As such, they are responsible for the reliable operation of 4 important services:
  • Classroom Support
  • Equipment Loan
  • Digital Signage (hardware/ technical only)
  • Special Event execution.
In support of these services, the manager of LST/Plymouth oversees all aspects of designing/ installing/ updating, training users on the appropriate packages of classroom technology for 119 classrooms. In addition, the position coordinates the execution of PSU events held both on and off-campus using staff, contractors, and students.

Duties / Responsibilities
Job Duties

Duty/Responsibility
  • Responsible for the uptime of audiovisual systems in 119 classrooms.
  • This will involve many tasks including but not limited to: Monitoring health of classrooms with remote monitoring tools like Crestron Fusion, watching TeamDynamix Ticket Queues, handling classroom emergency reports via Help Desk and Teams Chat.
  • Responding "just-in-time" break/fix at times to classroom emergencies and attempting ITSM practices to restore teaching via viable workarounds.
  • Maintain statistical data on classroom incidents and problems.
  • Responsible for being problem coordinator for classroom issues not resolved at first contact. Responsible for notifying end users and work groups of identified service outages and reports service resolutions.
  • Responsible for annual projects to replace equipment in sets of classrooms up for routine scheduled annual replacement.
  • Carry project from analysis/ design through project phases of procurement/ vendor negotiations to installation, work with PSU facilities teams and IT Teams, to commissioning, training, documentation, and post installation project evaluation.
  • Responsible for training, professional development, and supervision of staff in their efforts to support the LST services.
  • Supervise staff/ prioritize projects and efforts/ schedule coverage/ performance evaluations.
  • Satisfy documentation needs, such as creating documentation to accompany implementation of new or modified equipment or classroom equipment operation; ensures quality and consistency in documentation; writes and edits sophisticated documentation, which may be highly technical, in a format understandable and helpful to clients.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Responsible for design, delivery and production of campus live in-person, hybrid, and virtual events to include possible cross-rent, contracting, load in, set up, operate, strike equipment.
  • Typical equipment includes wired and wireless microphones, loudspeakers, signal processing/ amplification, video display screens, projectors, audio, and video monitors, recording equipment, mixing consoles.
  • Events are typically for university functions such as meetings, celebrations, conventions, presentations, and news conferences.
  • These duties include coordination and supervision of technicians, student staff and contractors. Assure timely payment of contractors.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Oversee small projects; installations of technology to help departments who need technology updates and upgrades.
  • Consult, design, procure, install, train departments.
  • Typical small projects include an LCD TV for a digital sign installation, conference room display/ sound bar/camera/mics.
  • Consult with departments on other technology needs such as sound and video reinforcement in larger spaces.
  • Coordinate vendor installations as appropriate.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Become fluent with the equipment checkout software WebCheckout and maintain the equipment loan service.
  • Assess new loaner needs, retire old loaner items, maintain reliable fleet of loaner items.
  • Oversee and optimize the process of the equipment check-out and check-in process.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Work on workplace culture of a high-performing team of skilled technicians with high morale.
  • Responsible for own training and maintenance of Avixa CTS (and other appropriate) certification.
  • Promote the constant improvement and skill acquisition for staff.
  • Promote collegial atmosphere with other teammates from LST, Endpoint Engineering, Help Desk, and ET&S staff.
